How to Use Herbal Oils?

Herbal oils are essential parts of Turkish hammam culture and everyday life. Herbal oils can be used for cosmetic or medical reasons. Here are some of the herbal oils like argan oil, lavender oil, juniper oil and how to use them effectively.

Argan Oil

Argan Oil is very effective for hair and skin. It helps hair to become shiny and soft. And it helps get rid of acne. Unlike any other herbal oils, it is easy to absorb by the body.

Here’s how to apply a hair mask with argan oil:

After washing your hair, proceed to the moist hair by applying the oil that you take from your ends to the bottom. Don’t take too much. No matter how dry your hair is, it will look oily. You can dry it when you believe you have moistened it well, which usually takes an hour. Your hair will become much softer and faster styling. You can help your hair absorb the oil by wrapping it.

Juniper Oil

Juniper oil is a very well-known diuretic. It is effective in the treatment of diseases such as rheumatism, arthritis, gout and kidney stones due to the removal of uric acid in the blood.

It cleans the blood and shows a detox effect. It helps reduce the toxic effects of heavy metals, free radicals, and some hormones produced by the body itself. You can take juniper oil by dropping it to a glass of water. You must not take it more than three times a day.

It also helps with period pains which are not common among herbal oils.

Lavender Oil

Lavender oil has a delicious smell, therefore, it a the perfect product to make a home-made perfume. Here’s a simple recipe for home-made lavender oil perfume:

  • Glass bottle
  • 2 tablespoons of vodka
  • 1 tablespoon of sterile water
  • 30 drops of lavender oil
  • 5 drops of rosemary oil
  • 10 drops of jojoba oil
  • First add lavender oil, rosemary oil, and jojoba oil to the glass bottle and mix them with vodka. Jojoba oil will help the scent last and we need the rosemary oil undertone for our perfume so it won’t be too heavy. Close the bottle and let it rest for two days in a place without sunlight and not warmer than 17°C (62,6 F). After two days add sterile water and stir it. Let it rest for four weeks in that same spot without sunlight. At the end of the four weeks, it will be ready to use after filtering the residue at the bottom.

You can make perfume with this recipe with all herbal oils.
