In 1923, Eyüp Sabri went into business again in Inegol, where he was born and raised. Now both his family and business were growing; it was the right time for a new start. He sold his family house and set forth to Ankara - rising value of the Turkish Republic then. In 1923, he opened up his retail shop, called department store, in the reconstructed capital with growing population. The store named as Eyüp Sabri offered a rich product range that would cater the needs of any family. During this period, the main activity included the custom-made shirts, as well as the sales activities of products such as hats, scarves, handkerchiefs, socks, leather and leather suitcases, handbags and umbrellas. During his trip to Istanbul, he learned how to make cologne from an essence dealer and this resulted in a revolutionary change on his life and his family’s.

Eyüp Sabri Tuncer founded a company with name “Eyüp Sabri Tuncer” in Ankara in 1923. He started cologne manufacture in 1930. He started promotional efforts by preparing a price list at the end of 1930. Cologne manufacture was interrupted due to the shortage period as a result of the Second World War started in 1939, economical turnaround and crises which resulted from transition to multi-party democracy and political turmoil.

There was a fire in 1942 but the company rose on its feet again with the trust and assurance it formed before. The interrupted cologne manufacture started again in 1947 but with small amounts. He turned over the management to Sabahattin Tuncer in 1972. Eyüp Sabri Tuncer died in 1981 as a veteran from the War of Independence. This grave is in Ankara Karşıyaka Martyrdom, No 1.

Sabahattin Tuncer started his works to develop his own formula by corresponding with raw material producers abroad in 1950s.

Sabahattin Tuncer turned a building on Işıklar Caddesi in Ulus a production center in 1970. He encouraged and supported the domestic essence production in the same year. We produced citrus shell oils, flos lavandulae, thyme, etc. from domestic scented products. He took over the company in 1972.

In the 1980s, the production of cologne continued to increase with the addition of different essences. In 1994, the management of Sabahattin Tuncer's son Engin Tuncer took over. In 1995, a factory with a high production capacity was established in Lalahan on 7000 m2 area.

Now, all business were produced with the latest technology and the product range was growing with new products other than cologne and new sub-brands. Aiming to transform his heirloom brand into a cultural heritage of Turkey, Engin Tuncer had his first TV ads in 2003 to increase their brand recognition. Later on, with the expanding product range and the ads broadcasted in 2007, he followed the policy to restore the room air freshener industry, which was on the very of coming to end, thus he paving the way to new products. In

2007, he founded Gizli Bahçe brand with an innovative product concept; in 2009 Perfume Jewels with younger brand recognition, and EST 1923 brand with natural and organic product concept. A new product was added to the innovations made in 2007 and the products in the expanding product range at that time were put on sale at affordable prices via their web site. Thus ensured that Eyüp Sabri Tuncer became one of the first cosmetic brands to offer online shopping in Turkey. In those days, the sales rates went up thanks to the increasing online shopping and this enabled the brand to stand out in the industry through this unconventional marketing strategy. In 2011, the documentary called 'The Scent of Republic' ('Cumhuriyetin Kokusu') - the first and only documentary on odor in Turkey by Mithat Bereket with soundtracks composed by Fahir Atakoğlu. This documentary, telling the story of the deep-rooted history of the company, was marketed together with its special scent and the earnings from this project were used to provide financial support for the social responsibility project of Darüşşafaka.

In 2015, we succeeded to be one of the first signatories of GAN Global Apprenticeship Network, started with a focus on training intermediate personnel throughout the world with a branch in Turkey, thus showing our support to qualified workforce. With our membership to GAN, we aim to increase training and employment in recruitment of qualified personnel for the sector, and support the employees involved in the project to be at higher levels than the internship position and have professional technical equipment. In this context, we continue to improve our business processes by prioritizing employee training and performance with the project we initiated in the last quarter of 2015. It shows that the product content does not include any medium derived from animals and no test is conducted on animals. In addition, in terms of product safety and safe production with a focus on keeping high quality levels both at production phases and applications, the brand also holds Good Manufacturing Practices certification, TS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, TS EN ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety Management System certifications, as well as the certification of the most favored and preferred brand in its category, issued by the Consumer Protection Association.
