Top places to visit in the city center of Antalya, Turkey

The aim of the list is to guide a tourist who visit the city for 5 days. If you want to visit all places in Antalya. I can clearly say that you need at least 20 days.

OLD TOWN

Due to its rich content, you can get the old town (Kaleiçi) to the top of your list.

The streets of the region are opening to the sea and the homes from the Ottoman period gained a magnificent view. You can give priority to the cultural areas such as Suna-İnan Kıraç Kaleiçi Museum, Hadrian’s Gate and the Grooved Minaret.

HADRIAN’S GATE

Roman Emperor Hadrianus BC. Hadrian’s Gate, which was built during the visit to the city in 130, is considered to be the most important work reflecting the ancient times of Antalya.

Although the sculptures on the door near oldtown disappeared in time, the inscription in Latin was preserved. Once part of the city walls that surround the city, the structure’s marble columns in the Corinthian style stand out with their carved and embossed embroidery technique.

Grooved Minaret

Grooved Minaret (Yivli Minare), one of the first Islamic icon in the city, was built in the 13th century by the order of the Seljuk Sultan, Alaeddin Keykubat.

Duden Waterfall

Duden (Düden) Waterfall, which is 10 kilometers away from the city center, is divided into 2 branches after it reaches the surface at the place called Düdenbaşı. These two branches are almost like paradise thanks to its peaceful environment surrounded by rich vegetation.

City Museum

Antalya Archeology Museum, located in Konyaaltı, was founded in 1922 to prevent foreign archaeologists from plundering the historical monuments.

Around 5 thousand works are exhibited in the halls created with different themes of the museum, which is one of the places where travelers add to the list of places to visit in Antalya. In the children’s section of the cultural facility where the finds from the ancient settlements can be examined, toys from antiquity are included.

Kursunlu Waterfall

Kurşunlu Waterfall, which was taken under protection as a nature park in 1986, is located in a 2 km valley surrounded by forests. Antalya-Isparta road 24 kilometers away from the road at 7 kilometers from the natural beauty inside, the highest of 18 meters flowing from 7 small waterfalls.

These waterfalls created by these visually enchanting ponds are surrounded by pleasant areas such as restaurants, cafes, and playgrounds. Like the Duden, this waterfall is also ideal for taking pictures.

Konyaalti Beach

Konyaalti (Konyaaltı) Beach, which is one of the two popular areas where you can swim in the center of the city together with “Lara”, covers the 7-kilometer coastline extending from the “Falezler” to Antalya Port.

4.5 kilometers of this long coastal section of the beach as the local people and holidaymakers are arranged to enter the sea. There are many facilities you can eat and stay in the vicinity of the award-winning çevresinde Blue Flag çevresinde beach where you can enjoy the sea. The beach also hosts the ruins of Olbia, the port city founded by Termessos in ancient times.

Aspendos Ancient Theater

Aspendos Theater was built by the Romans in the 2nd century. Due to the historical structure, the imposing appearance, and the cultural organizations that are hosted today, travelers often find themselves on the list of places to visit in Antalya.

If you visit a guided tour of the ancient theater, which has managed to preserve its magnificent acoustics today, do not forget to listen to its story.
